"Looking Up" is up on the walls at the Turchin Center in Boone. The show runs from Dec. 5, 2014 through March 21, 2015. Turchin has a dope flickr account with even doper images of group shots of the 15 brand spankin' new paintings. We're exploring the things that move us forward.
You around Friday, February 6th from 6-10p? It's on. The free reception opens along with the other solo artists on display. It is an honor to be showing at my alma mater; Appalachian State University and with other awesome artists.
Andrew Fullwood is a fifth generation wood carver out of Chapel Hill, NC. His works are organic. Ha. Organic matter. Ahem -- the wood he shapes with tools of the trade become forms that are abstract and fluid. His show is titled "Allurement".
Next up -- Tanja Softic. Her show is called "Gathered From Available Data". Her work is mixed media -- markmaking and painting included on large surfaces and reminds me of microbes and biology. Real abstract beauties.
And if you make it to the Feb. 6 reception you'll catch the tale end of TWENTY: Contemporary Art from South Africa. It's huge and luscious.
While on the topic of dates -- there will also be a lecture by Les III on Wednesday, March 4 at 7p in the Turchin. Watch as the word strapped artist talks about things best experienced visually. It will be a hoot. Wild arm gesticulations will abound. That's free too.
And there will be another reception for "Looking Up" during Boone's First Friday Art Hop -- March 6, from 6p--10p.
If you make it to see the work let me know what you see!
