This is the student's work I am responding to. |
Youth Art Month is one of my favorite shows. Every time I walk into the gallery I see something I hadn't seen before. So much energy and freedom.
For 2015 the RAG Gallery Committee came up with a cool exhibition concept. Adult artists were invited to take in the "Youth Art Month" exhibit. As they considered the works, should they feel inspired by a selection or two -- the adults could snap a photo of the student work and create a "response piece" to the youth's art.
For the month of July RAG will exhibit the student's work again along side the adult response art. The show is called "Young At Art". The free opening reception is on Tuesday, July 7th. It's a drop-in affair between 5:30p -- 7:30p. For more information contact the guild at (336) 629-0399.
I think this will be an intriguing show. It promises to demonstrate a little of the dialogue that happens visually. Perhaps it will also celebrate how we all see things a little differently and also ways we see things very similarly.
