Leaving Empty Handed (Detail)

This is a portion of a painting from the 2010 series entitled Floating Women.  The body of work, which originally debuted at Studio 103 in Black Mountain, NC back in 2010, considered those lady-like heavenly forms that aren't solid on Terra firma, but aren't fully in the ethers either.

Leaving Empty Handed was recently selected with another painting from the series to be included in the 31st Annual Competitive Competition hosted by Kinston Community Council for the Arts.  The juror for the exhibition is Jennifer Dasal, Assistant Curator for the NC Museum of Art.  The show is up March 1 -- April 14, 2012.  The reception is Thursday, March 15th from 6p -- 8p.  Road trip, anyone?
