two hundred forty-seven

-- Saturday in the sunshine.  After a contemplative rest in a colleague's studio on Friday night, Saturday peeked through the windows and it was time for the second event for the weekend.

Collected my thoughts and broke out for the Hoots Flea Market.  This is not your everyday flea.  The little buggers here are artisan, affordable, and fun.  Hoot's is a fresh micro brewery in Winston.  They are the crown jewel in the maze of "turning over" industrial buildings off Bridge Street.  It doesn't feel like the gentrification I witnessed in other places that became creatively hip -- yet.

The Porch Cantina is another spot in the compound with tasty vittles.  I bought Sunshine to commemorate the day and wash down the breakfast tacos.  It hit the spot.

Then it came time to get down to business.  And grateful am I to draw with other deft visual artists under the canopy that is Delurk Gallery.  We rented a booth and marked it up.  Promoting the arts and serving up fresh flea market original art on the spot.

Hoot's Flea Market is a unique beast.  It's silly and diverse in the booth wares -- at least it was this Saturday.  You could tune up your bicycle, purchase tunes from an on-point record dealer, check out many other individual artists and craftspeople, and pick up that vintage lamp with two eagles fighting over the US flag that you've been looking for.  This was the spot.

Then some lovely ladies stopped by while enjoying their libations courtesy of Hoot's.  They picked up a couple of Les III scribbles and continued to enjoy the sunshine -- kinda hit me right in the soft spot.
