two hundred thirty-one

Authoring Action is a 13 year old creative arts advocacy group based in Winston-Salem.  Those are the words I heard several times during the Friday night event over at Delurk Gallery.  What I saw and felt was soul stirring creative writing and spoken word ability from high school students with powerful voices paired with mature (and playful) support voices from their mentors and patrons.

Authoring Action hosted a fund raiser in Delurk.  There were several stations where attendees could express themselves via various word games.  The station in the picture was from the "Exquisite Corpse" station.  Followers of this blog know about my sharing of this game with students over in Guilford County. This version used typed words piecemealed together from the previous author to create poetry.

Exquisite Corpse was housed in the portion of the gallery where my current solo exhibit -- "In Be-tween Words" is mounted.  The feed back from the lovers of words was fantastic -- talk about 'cross-pollination'.  My hearts strings were a'flutter all evening.  Thanks to Authoring Action, the creative minds they nourish, and Delurk Gallery for a mouthful.
