Sherry Edwards is a memorable professor from my degree hunting days at ASU. She nailed me one day in a foundations drawing class. She looked dead at me while I was fumbling during a critique, "use your words". To which I replied, "if I had words, I wouldn't be drawing pictures."
The upcoming November exhibition at Winston-Salem's Delurk Gallery explores words. The body of work plays with familiar word-based phrases. The one in the image is a detail from "Following the Directions". There are no words in the depicted couple's radiating happiness.
Also in Delurk's November exhibition are new collaborative works from artist Chad Beroth and his creative daughters. That family has lots of spirit. Their series of collaborative works will be a unique view of how blood communicates with pictures.
The fun begins with a free opening reception this Friday, November 1 from 7p -- 10p. Come share some words.
